How the currency calculator works
The converter uses the euro foreign exchange reference rates published by the European Central Bank each working day around 16:00 CET. Cross rates between two non-euro currencies are worked out through those reference rates.
Reference rates are mid-market rates. Banks, card networks and exchange counters add a spread or fee, so the rate you actually get is usually 1% to 5% worse.
If the live rates can't be loaded, the calculator falls back to a saved table and shows its date.
