How the hours calculator works
Hours worked = end time minus start time minus unpaid breaks. When the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as ending the next day.
Decimal hours divide the minutes by 60, so 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours. Payroll usually multiplies decimal hours by the hourly rate.
