How the fuel cost calculator works
Fuel cost = fuel used × price per unit. In US units, fuel used = miles ÷ miles per gallon. In metric, fuel used = kilometers × (liters per 100 km) ÷ 100.
Real consumption varies with speed, load, weather, air conditioning and traffic, so treat the answer as an estimate. Highway driving above about 60 mph usually uses noticeably more fuel than the rated figure.
