How the commission calculator works
A flat commission is sale amount × rate. With a tiered (graduated) plan, each rate applies only to the sales within its band, so selling more raises the rate on the extra sales without changing what you earned on the first dollars.
Real estate commissions are typically 5% to 6% of the sale price split between the agents; retail and car sales often pay a smaller percentage plus a base salary.
