How the percent off calculator works
To take a percent off, multiply the price by (1 - percent). 25% off $150 is $150 × 0.75 = $112.50, saving $37.50.
Stacked discounts multiply rather than add: 25% off and then an extra 10% off is 0.75 × 0.90 = 0.675 of the price, a 32.5% total discount, not 35%. Sales tax is charged on the discounted price.
