How the binary calculator works
Binary (base 2) uses only the digits 0 and 1. Each position is worth twice the one to its right: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 and so on. So 10110 = 16 + 4 + 2 = 22.
To convert decimal to binary, divide by 2 again and again and write down the remainders; reading them from bottom to top gives the binary number. Arithmetic works like in decimal, except you carry when a column reaches 2.
Division returns a whole-number quotient and a remainder. AND, OR and XOR compare the numbers bit by bit. Numbers of any length work exactly.
