How the overweight calculator works
Overweight means a BMI of 25 to 29.9 and obesity a BMI of 30 or more. This calculator finds the weight that brings you to a BMI of 24.9 and how long it takes at the pace you choose.
Daily calories come from your maintenance needs (Mifflin-St Jeor BMR × activity) minus about 500 Calories for each pound a week. It never goes below 1,200 (women) or 1,500 (men) Calories, the usual floor without medical supervision.
