Torque and horsepower curves cross at 5,252 RPM when plotted in lb-ft and hp.
How it was calculated
- hp = torque (lb-ft) × RPM ÷ 5,252 = 300 × 5,000 ÷ 5,252.11 = 285.6
- kW = N·m × RPM × 2π ÷ 60,000 = 212.971

How the horsepower calculator works
Horsepower is work done per unit of time. One mechanical horsepower is 550 foot-pounds per second, about 745.7 watts. Metric horsepower (PS) is slightly smaller at 735.5 W.
From an engine's torque: hp = torque (lb-ft) × RPM ÷ 5,252. From force and motion: power = force × distance ÷ time.
From a drag strip run, the Hale formulas estimate power: hp = weight ÷ (ET ÷ 5.825)³ or hp = weight × (trap speed ÷ 234)³, with weight in pounds (car plus driver) and speed in mph.
