How the common factor calculator works
A common factor is a number that divides every number in a set evenly. 1 is always a common factor; the largest one is the greatest common factor (GCF).
A neat shortcut: the common factors of a set are exactly the factors of their GCF. So find the GCF (for 36, 60 and 84 it's 12) and list its factors: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12.
