How the body surface area calculator works
Body surface area is used in medicine to dose chemotherapy and other drugs and to index heart and kidney measurements. Mosteller's formula, the square root of height (cm) × weight (kg) / 3600, is the most common because it's simple and accurate.
DuBois and DuBois (1916) is the classic formula. Haycock was built with children, Fujimoto and Takahira with Japanese adults, and Schlich (2010) uses separate equations for men and women.
