How the basic calculator works

Tap the keys or type on your keyboard, then press = or Enter. Multiplication and division happen before addition and subtraction, just like on a school calculator, and parentheses let you group steps.

% divides a number by 100, √x takes the square root, x² squares and 1/x gives the reciprocal. M+ and M− add the current answer to memory or take it away, and MR brings it back.
