How the debt payoff calculator works
Each month every debt is charged interest at its rate / 12 and gets its regular payment. Your extra payment goes to one target debt: the highest rate (avalanche) or the smallest balance (snowball). When a debt is gone, its payment joins the extra, so payments snowball toward the next one.
The comparison line shows your debts with their current payments only, where each payment stops when its debt is paid.
